Export growth rate of textile and garment industry in Vietnam continues to rise

According to data from Vietnam Textile and Apparel Group (Vinatex) in 2011, the turnover of the companies directly under Vinatex amounted to approximately VND1.7 trillion (US$825.81 million), an increase of 15%.

Companies with a turnover exceeding one trillion dong (about US$48 million) include Phong Phu (VND 2,075 billion, approximately US$144.22 million) and Viet Thang (RMB 1,999 billion , approximately $ 57.13 million), Viet Tien (in the first nine months of 2011 reached 2.428 trillion VND, approximately $ 110.57 million) and so on. (Note: On March 9, 2012, one US dollar was equal to 20,828 20,833 Vietnamese dong).

The export growth rate of textile and garment industry in Vietnam has also been rising.

The Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (Vitas) stated that in 2009, the export amount reached 9.1 billion U.S. dollars (an increase of 10.7 times from 850 million U.S. dollars in 1995); it reached 11.2 billion U.S. dollars in 2010 and reached nearly 14 billion U.S. dollars in 2011. It grew 30% over 2010.
